Grace Summer Camp 2018 - A Demo Day Review













Grace Demo Day took place on July 20th at the »Kunstgewerbemuseum der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin«. Here are some impressions.
Eight newly formed startups presented their concepts to a top-class jury as well as 160+ invited guests from start-up scene, economy, media and politics. Demo Day was hosted by Nathalie Sonne, Ignore Gravity Partner and Head of Program at Ignore Gravity's leAD Sport1 Accelerator. After the pitches, two top-level keynote speakers shared insights around female entrepreneurship: Former Federal Minister of Economics, Brigitte Zypries, spoke about the political opportunities and economic benefits of supporting aspiring female founders. Afterwards, Dr. Sophie Chung, Founder of Qunomedical, shared her own experience of becoming one of Europe's most successful founders.
The Winners
The jury of experts awarded three startups with prizes totaling € 20,000.
1. Nitty Gritty
Jennifer Baum, Andrea Reinbold. Nitty Gritty is a digital lifestyle brand that develops innovative, chemical-free cosmetic products together with the customer through a technology that is unique in Germany.
2. Traveler.me
Marina Doß. Traveler.me is a matchmaking app for individual travelers that connects travel partners with the same interests. Through an internalized booking system and the ability to share memories, the app accompanies the entire travel experience.
3. Lemovi
Leonie Sommer, Laura Nielsen, Theresa Stadler. Lemovi is an edutainment app that connects the digital with the real world and empowers children in a meaningful and entertaining way. Online content is associated with tasks in the analogue world, so a responsible use of media is trained.
Other strong startups
- U LYB - Melanie Wagenfort, Lea Matschke. U LYB does bespoke laundry based on an app-based 3D scan of the breast.
- MovedIn - Anja Schweimer. LinkedIn for the housing market: Landlords find their suitable tenant based on personal criteria and sympathy.
- Emmora - Victoria Dietrich, Nour el Houda Bourbia, Evgeniya Polo, Deniz Ficicioglu. Emmora develops a digital holistic platform that deals with the topic of death and facilitates the organization for relatives of the deceased.
- Find my Kita - Marie-Charlotte von Eyb, Dr. Michaela Schöll. Find my Kita is developing a blockchain-based matchmaking platform to help day-care centers, parents and educators.
- Watermelon - Heike Gäbler. Watermelon is a Life Intelligence Solution that transparently prepares data from personal Internet usage for the user in dashboards.
